Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring?
All you will need to bring is an appropriate swimming costume or trunks, goggles, hat and towel. If your child/children are attending the parent and child class, they must wear a swim nappy under their swim suit to be able to enter the pool.

How long are the lessons/term?
Lessons are 30 minutes each with one session per week. Our swim school is run termly, and terms range from 11-15 weeks, to fit around the school term time-table.

What age does my child need to be to start at SWC?
We take children from the age of 6 months old in our parent and child classes. We take children from 2.5 years for parent and toddler. We take children from the age of 3.5 in our duckling/stage lessons.

How many children are in a class?
Our ratio is 6 children to one teacher (6:1).

Do you do private lessons?
Yes, we offer 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 lessons.

My child/children have been unwell. Shall I still bring them swimming? If not, can I get a refund?
All children attending lessons should be fit and healthy on the day of their lesson. Children must be free from sickness, diarrhea and/or flu for at least 48 hours prior to their lesson.

We do not offer refunds or make-up sessions for missed sessions due to sickness.

How do I re-enroll for next term?
You will be sent a re-enrolment email 3 weeks prior to the end of term, asking you if you want to re-enroll. To secure your space back onto the course, please ensure you pay by the deadline stated to avoid your space being given away. Failure to make payment by the deadline date will result in your space being opened to others on the waiting list.

What if I miss the deadline date to re-enroll/sign up?
If we do not hear from you, your space will be offered to another child on the waiting list and you will be offered an alternative space if there is any available. We cannot guarantee a space will be available if you do not re-enroll/sign up by the deadline date.

What awards can my child/children achieve at SWC?
SWC teaches all lessons to the Swim England Framework. All children will be assessed on their ability and awarded a badge and certificate. Our awards range from Discovery Ducklings, Ducklings, Stage 1-10, and advanced swimming challenges, Life-saving awards and Junior Lifeguard awards
